could it be that the alternator is not giving enough power to the battery therefore with the engine on (coils and stuff drawing power as well) the amp does not get enough power? so maybe a capacitor will solve the problem?

I doubt the earth is bad because I have also tried it with 2 earth points connected simultaneously ... still same problem. Could it be because the wires for the signal from the head unit are not in the best condition (they snapped and I re-connected them instead of replacing...too much hassle to rep...

Hello there, does anyone know why my amplifier is switching to protection mode (ie turn off) but only when the engine is on. When the car is turned off I can get the volume up to 30 without the amp going into protection mode and when the engine is turned on with the volume set to 27 the amp will go ...

Thanks for the replies :) I will phone the agent who gets vw to malta(as red6n2 said :p ) and see if he stocks them. I am not sure but I think I have asked them once and the price what sooo expensive!! Alternatively if you pay pal me the money il get you one from vw and post it out myself ?. Thanks ...

Hi, my antenna gasket was all flaky and today it came apart so I'd like to fix it before winter comes...so I found this on ebay but it is compleatly different from the one I have as it hasn't got the inner lip that goes under the base. Hi, long time no posts ... but I've got a problem, I was changing the fuel filter and for gods sake I forgot to note the direction of the old one so could someone please indicate to me whether the arrow is pointing to the passenger or driver side so I can continue fitting the filter :/ ?? thanks in ...

mine are both part synthetic i assumed, as one says part synthetic and the other is synthetic based(not fully synthetic)...not sure though, might as well just change all the oil then, surely does no harm. what ratings do you use? is 10-40w fine?

thanks for the input mate, looked it up on google and most of them said that as long as they are both of the same weight...in this case both are 10-40w, and both semi synthetic(as I think both are in my care) it should be fine...

oil top up
I need to top up the oil and the one I use is finished, can I use another brand(mix 2 brands of oil). they are both of the same weight and viscosity of 10W-40W and one says it is synthetic based and one part synthetic(both sound the same for me). thanks

so did the vag com scan and there was an error stored-something to do with speed control sensor! is it the same as a cam position sensor, cos a search on google showed something similar. and why did it act like that and now it's fine?
