Re: Reversing issue
Old thread I appreciate and this is on my Golf GTI MK7.5 MY2020 (DSG). Had parked under some trees on a field, when I came to back out, started inching out as there was a small tree to my left. Suddenly the car jammed on its anchors so abruptly I was convinced I had hit the tree! My heart skipped a ...

Re: Quick poll on alloys- Parkers or Brescias
I posted a similar topic on the Golf GTI forum recently, only there of course the wheel choice is 18” (Parker’s) or 19” (Brescia). I really do love the look of the Brescia design whether on the Polo or Golf and was not sure about the look of the Parkers, in pictures at least. When I test drove the G...

Re: new GTI not available
This Polo is at my local dealer, I think they have had it quite a while and clearly ‘reduced to clear’. Must be difficult to sell the old model with the new one waiting in the wings.

Re: Gti and Gti plus available to configure
Indeed - initially there wont be much in the way of discounts from the dealers but in 6 months time it may be a different story. It is a clever ploy I guess from VW marketing with this standard and Plus model, as they are almost forcing the customer to go for the Plus given that it would cost more t...

Re: Gti and Gti plus available to configure
I really should know the answer, but what really is the main difference between a Polo GTI and Polo GTI Plus? I am assuming much like a Golf GTI and Golf GTI Performance Pack. Mechanically, there’s no difference between the two models; the difference is in the level of equipment. The following item...

Re: EGR Problems, keep it or sell it?
My Father in-laws EGR valve went on his Golf TDI (10 reg) and cost about £1,100 to fix, he only does short journeys. To make the most of a diesel you really need to be doing big mileages to make it pay for itself. Sounds like your driving habits don't really merit a diesel and with all of these poll...

Re: Are You Using Oil?
Indeed, they are great cars, amazing the power you can get for a 1.4, but they did not get it quite right back in 2010. There is a lot of information out there which you may have already seen so the dealer has to take this seriously, this is the PistonHeads view: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/t...

Re: Are You Using Oil?
Stobo91 - yes - as per Alex post, I would try and reject it. The pity about it is, overall they are fantastic cars, but this oil consumption issue did tarnish the reputation of it on those early cars. It was not made better until about 2012 models. The number of owners does seem to indicate that own...

Re: Are You Using Oil?
This seems to be the classic high oil consumption usage that affected early models, mine is a 60 plate (MY2011), and VW replaced the engine at 8K, not without numerous tests first though. I think the garage are trying to fob you off by sending you away for another 1K miles, I am certain the same thi...

Yes - it's when the tyre is damaged in the sidewall it's bad news. If the nail is within the main tread, should be easily repairable!

Re: New GTI
Well my car went into vw again today, this time for the trip reset and clock buttons being stuck in! Apparently this can happen when the buttons aren't located properly in the manufacturing process. As it turns out they weren't able to get them sorted so they have had to back order me a new speedo ...

Re: Are You Using Oil?
Yes - that oil consumption is way over even what VW say is acceptable. Mine was serviced only 4 weeks ago and I have already had to do a small top up of oil (350 miles later).
