Re: Emissions scandle. Do people think the TSI is next?

The key issue with the VW diesel 'scandal' is the NOx emissions, not C02. Manufacturers are already capable of manipulating results in EU C02 testing without the need for special defeat devices. The Telegraph covered that quite neatly here today . So I'm less convinced that VW would even need to res...

Ok, it's not mine, but it is a 6R/6C I guess! https://engagesportmode.files.wordpress.com/2015/07/2015-goodwood-fos-volkswagen-polo-r-wrc-001.jpg?w=940 Taken at Goodwood Festival of Speed the other week. Looks great up close; you realise how ridiculously wide those arches are! Couple more pics in my...

Re: New GTI

I've noticed definite differences between using Shell V-Power and other fuels; chiefly in terms of fuel consumption. With V-Power my GTI tends to average a good 4-5mpg higher on the same road/conditions compared to fuel from elsewhere. Was the same with my old R-Line TSI, too. Given the difference t...

Re: New GTI

Thanks. Mine is coming as a 3dr manual with the sports button option, in white with satnav and winter pack. Interestingly I have read previously that the sports button initiates peak torque earlier in the Rev range? I'm not sure how true this is, but surely an advantage that is being overlooked in ...

Re: New GTI

I had the squealing issue with my GTI, its died down a bit now at around ~1500miles, but was a lot more prolific when i first got the car. It's not causing me too much grief so i'm just living with it/hoping it'll just vanish eventually My local VW dealer isn't exactly great so i don't want more ha...

Re: New GTI

If somebody's ordered a black one, there was one making its way down the A19 on the back of a transporter earlier! In other news, my GTI is going in to VW on Saturday. Ridiculous levels of vibrating/rattling from behind the door cards. Drove another GTI couple of weeks ago, and it didn't rattle at a...

Re: Sluggish performance

Is it not more likely you've just become used to the performance of it?

If it's been serviced correctly, there's no errors showing up on VCDS, and there's no other variable, it's maybe more of a psychological thing.

Try driving something really slow for a couple of weeks - that'll probably help!

Re: New GTI

I love the exhaust note this GTI has over the previous one. I have the windows down on occasions just to hear it. I've been impressed with how good it sounds. Most turbocharged four-cylinder stuff often struggles to have any real 'sound' as standard, so I was pleasantly surprised by the GTI. Not to...

Re: Polo GTI PCP and options

I had quotes of Gap insurance ranging from £90 - £130 dependent on the type of cover you want. However, VW dealer managed to get it thrown in for free as part of my deal with them. So, naturally, I took that! I notice your from Durham, I'm in Newcastle, what dealer did you go to? Pulman in Durham. ...

Re: Wheels Off - Eventually.....

I swapped wheels front to back a few months ago to even out the tyre wear.

Pretty sure they've never been off the car in 2.5 years - took forever to free them!

Suffice to say I'll be taking the wheels off my new one fairly soon after I get it put some copper slip or similar on the hubs.

Re: Polo R-line 105ps reading 130ps

Owners of other cars with the 1.2 TSI engine have reported getting 115-120bhp when the car has been rolling-roaded in factory trim. However, 130bhp, is more surprising - could well be rolling road being a bit more optimistic in that instance. Having owned an R-Line for 2.5 years, I've always been co...
