I agree delivery times are pretty mad for what is a 'relatively' normal car.
If you look at the length of time people are waiting on Fiesta ST, some are getting cars in about 6 weeks for full factory orders.
I can only assume VW underestimated demand for the new Polo GTI.

Re: Top Gear drive the Polo Blue GT
Hi guys I'm a new member and have owned a BGT for 8 months now, whilst I agree that fuel economy varies from driver to driver and road conditions I am very annoyed that VW quote theses figures. I owned a 205 bhp diesel Volvo that got much closer to the quoted figures from them despite driving it ho...

Re: New GTI
The Cooper S has the potential to be hilariously expensive when it comes to options too. Just had a play on the MINI Configurator website, and to get a car to a similar spec' as a standard Polo GTI you're talking about £21k! Add to that the awful interior, bulbous retro styling and general image, th...

Re: Finance and warrenties
Just a point, it is your car, you are being lent the money. They may still forbid modifications as part of the deal. I have gone with the mantra of nothing that permanently changes the car Depends on which finance option you have chosen. Some of they you don't own the car. Indeed. With both VW Solu...

Re: New GTI
Your car looks mighty fine afk. Mine gets built next week so until it arrives I have to satisfy myself with GTI car porn. :D Mine too. Tweeted @VWUKHelp earlier just to see if it was still on schedule which, thankfully, it is! Great pics afk - first one I've seen with Climate Control, and it's made...

Re: New GTI
That sounds right, given that you ordered about a week after me and I've got a build week of 16Dink wrote:So finally been to see the retailer
Initially had a build week of 30 then jumped to week 17 which is a bit of a result.
Just need to sell my 9n3 now.

Looks good in black
Had noticed the red detailing behind the LED unit before - that's a nice little touch!

In case you haven't seen it, Auto Express also have their UK review now online - avaliable here . Four stars again, so same as Autocar and Evo. All the reviews I've seen suggest the 'standard' non-Sport pack car is decent enough, and sits between the Sport pack's 'Sport' and 'Comfort' modes in terms...

Re: New GTI
I think it's safe to say the VW order tracking website is pretty poor! Ordered mine on 17th Jan and it only updated to reflect build week being confirmed last week. However, dealer had told me that info about 3 weeks beforehand. In short, other than having some cute animated graphics, the tracker is...

Re: New GTI - Was armrest an option?
The Configurator was, initially, nowhere near accurate. Sport Performance Pack was even listed as an option, and there seemed to be some confusion over LED lights being standard or not. No mention of armrest when I ordered my GTI in January. I imagine VW would just say that specifications are subjec...

Re: New GTI
Both the brochure and the price list show cruise control as available for the GTI - as part of the Cruise and Park Pack. Although that suggests it's just normal cruise control; not adaptive. Brochure is http://cdn.volkswagen.co.uk/assets/common/pdf/brochures/polo-gp-brochure.pdf And price list is he...

Re: New GTI
Spoke to my dealer yesterday.
My GTI is showing as build week 16 at the minute, having provisionally been slated for week 23! The waiting is killing me already, so not sure I could've coped with an extra few weeks on top, too.

Re: New GTI
i don't think the sports pack option could be not selected for the price really. just a shame the charged for every option of paint colour other than red. You can blame Volkswagen UK for that. German market gets the option of red, white and black for free, whereas we get hit with the £260 charge fo...

Re: New GTI
Congratulations on the order Andy! Did your dealer give you any estimate of lead time for delivery?
Everyone seems to be going for Flash Red it seems - serves VW UK right for making every other colour a cost option!

Re: New GTI
I think the Blue GT gained a lot of popularity due to a) the relatively cheaper price against the 6R 1.4TSI GTI, and b) the issues (whether real or not) with that GTI's 1.4TSI engine and DSG 'box combination. Given the price difference now between the Blue GT and 6C GTI (less than £1k on list price)...
