Right, I replaced the earthing cable on the car, and have now soldered in a brand new connection onto the front lambda sensor, as the old one had had it. Car is a hell of alot smoother, and the alarm (which was going off randomly) has stopped. However, Im still now getting the same P0116 Engine Cool...

Sorry mate, But I really just want the whole car moved on..
I dont really have the time, Or want to detract from the overall quality of this car.

No It will come on for a day or 2, then dissappear for a week or so, then come back on.. I normally clear down the code when it pops up, but when i dont it seems to come and go of its own accord, which would suggest a wiring problem somewhere?

Still struggling with this code, Nobody can shed any light? have searched every post on here, but nothing specific crops up.. At wits end now..

And getting bored of talkin to myself.. haha

Anyone had this code before? or know where the coolant sensor goes to ground? dont suppose its the same as the alarm system ground is it? under the scuttle panel?
Any experience of this code before would be a great help..

I got some from VW Direct, Werent too bad on price, and yes they are red
Moral of the story is dont clean your engine without covering up the electronics first! even if your in a rush... lol

Easiest way to tell will be to jack her up mate.. reach through, grab the shock body and give it some vigorous rocking.. that should help narrow down the problem a little..?

What coilovers are you running?
I had similar on the front of mine, Turned out to be shot damping inserts on the FK Highsports I have fitted...

Anyone know where All the earthing points on the polo are? or can point me in the direction of a schematic or something? Anything?

Right, Replaced out leads. Ran the car till it was hot >90 degrees and problem seems to have dissappeared..

Under shiny edging shroud on gauge cluster cover.. remove this part (clipped in so be gentle) then you will be able to see all the screws.. 3 or 4 from memory.. remove the shroud, then there are a few holding the clocks themselves in.. Remove those, and the cluster pulls straight up.. carefully uncl...

No the engine management light occassionally comes on when the car is spluttering, but quickly goes again as soon as it starts firing on all 4... Only code I have have back is for misfire on cyl 3.. Anyone know if there is a different code for broken coilpacks, or could that be the problem? Strange ...

Brand New set of plugs fitted... Strange thing is, It starts and runs fine when cold, then after 10 minutes seems to start suffering from the misfire again.. seems to be worse under load though.. :-/
