Wife's 9n has been in for the usual niggles, also faulty lambda sensors (2 sensors replaced 3 times). Drivers door doesn't shut properly furst time, always needs to be opened and closed again (strange one). Wife doesn't want to buy another VW, due to these niggles which is a shame. In total, she has...

I with you Des on this one. There is absolutely no reason for people to be using their fogs 99.9% of the time. It's difficult to categorise these gits though, as more and more often it's middle-aged blokes/old pensioners etc... Last week I followed a driving instructor for three miles with his rear ...

The explosion created by a diesel engine is much more powerful than a petrol, hence the reason diesels have got so much torque :P I thought that you get more torque because the diesel burns rather than exploding, giving you longer push on the piston on the downward stroke, but hey, I'm no mechanic....

Found the BP garage at Petersfield (just off the A3) supplies this, and as I have to fill up every other day, I'll give it a try for a couple of weeks. Don't really have to worry about the consumption, but if my heavy right foot likes it, I might stick to it  I'll try and track consumption anyw...

Pain in the harris

Just took my Passat ('98 R, 110k miles) in to look at a part-ex. Salesman looks at my passat, admires the front end and says "have you had a frontal accident, or the front replaced at all?" which on the one hand is a complement, but he didn't believe me when I said no. Trouble is, t...

Cool! Since I have a fuel card that my company pays for, I'll have to give it a try. Now all I have to do is find a BP garage that sells it. I am a bit confused though, as I thought it was Shell that sold the unleaded Optimax, not BP. Perhaps it is a generic label (like "four star"). Disre...

Thats with Elephant.co.uk

Most we've ever paid was £1225 when we got a rover 214SLi. I was 25 and had 0 no claims

Wouldn't be without my fully auto climatronic.

Set it at 20 and forget about it. Never get steamy windows, always comfy in the summer and winter.

Does add a second to your 0-60 times though (on a Passat estate).

Could be your MAF. Try disconnecting it to see if there is any difference If you can find anyone near you with VAG-Com, they could verify this. If the car still has any sort of guarantee outstanding, then your local dealer would be able to do this too. When the MAF fails (or starts to fail), it does...

Insurance Co's will use any excuse to get you to pay more. Heaven forbid, but if you were involved in an accident and they saw this, I bet they would still try to worm out of paying! Looks good! Are TDi pipes not angled downward at 30' or so? Maybe look a bit strange, and with the airflow might disc...
