Re: Meister's Black GTI 5Dr - The Git
After 9 breakdowns in 9500 I've finally got shot of it - Plate returned to original Sad to see it go because it was an absolute hoot when it worked, but the grief it gave me and lack of decent customer care offered by my dealer and VW head office mean that I had to take the money and run. I won't be...

Re: Flashing Coil and Traction control warning lights
3 Years 2 months of ownership. 9500 miles 9 breakdowns 4 sets of wiring harnesses 4 turbo pressure sensors 2 sets of melted spark plugs 2 complaints raised to VW 1 response of this isn't unusual 1 threat to sue 1 car purchased back at a slightly below market rate 1 dissatisfied customer that will ne...

Re: Are You Using Oil?
Just a quicky. I'm sure the oil level needs to be taken when cold. Its a settled level you need rather than one where it's been sloshed about?
I could be wrong though.

Re: Emissions Control Light AND ESP light, low power
Might also be a manifold sensor or wiring issue. is it OK power-wise until 3000 revs?
Certainly check plugs leads to make sure nothing has come loose as it's a no cost option but I would expect lumpy misfiring engine if that was the case. Might be a dealer service job.

Re: Volkswagen Maintenance plan
Depends on your mileage and how good your dealer is. With my recent VW service experiences they'd be the last place I take the car to if I had any choice. If you're running high miles and want to keep the car for a short time then it's probably cost efficient as a fdsh is better than a fsh in for sa...

Re: Flashing Coil and Traction control warning lights
Back in again. Same symptoms. Power cuts out at 3000 rpm. I've had 3 manifold pressure sensors and the wiring to it replaced once.
Time to get shot of this car it think. Warranty up in March.

Re: AirCon refresh
In the future to stop it smelling switch the aircon off 5 mins before the end of your journey but keep the fan blowing. Will dry it out and stop it going mouldy.

Re: Window visors
Cheers all. Just the standard smoked ones. It's all Amazon had at the time. I installed them because if it had been raining and I turned a corner with the window down I'd get a wet shoulder. Nothing to do with looks. For the first couple of weeks I'd see the edge of them out of the corner ...

Re: Best approach to persuading Dealers to price match
Depends on whether you're buying out right on on finance and also if you're part-exing. I was a cash buyer. I went in prepared with a drive the deal price and spec said I'm not haggling I want this car for this price. They did the "I'll speak to my manager" bit and hid round the corner for...

Climair on my GTI. No clips or adhesive just slot in, make sure your windows stay shut for a couple of days for them to bed in.
Purchased from Amazon for less than £40. imho they look OEM.

Re: Can you be too old for a GTI?
I'm 41 and my 2013 GTI cost me about £250 to insure with protected 7y NCB on a 5000mile per year average.
You're never too old one of my relatives had a Golf GTI into his 80s.

3rd Turbo pressure sensor in 7000 miles.
Either they've made of cheese or something else is at fault however I quote:
"This is unrelated to the problems you car had before"
Well I don't know about anyone else but I'm convinced.

Good to hear. Hope it solves the issue finally for you.
Mine's been with VW for a day now. Not heard anything yet.

Re: VW GLOSSY SHARK FIN AERIAL
Search for my my car thread "Meister's Black GTI 5Dr - The Git" I purchased one from ebay. You unscrew the stock antenna and screw this on in then it sticks over the top. 5 min job and completely reversible cost about a tenner and reception is fine DAB & FM http://i43.tinypic.com/sfuow...
