Hi, I am just about to change the engine. CTHE from7/2013...I have now 1,5L of 5w40 oil for 1000 km....horrible oil consumption. Selling the car right away and already placed an order for new GTI.

Hey guys, had a different issue, oil usage is much better after 5w40, but my car was smoking blue!!!! The problem was crankshaft breather hoses, there is a valve and it broke down....so my engine was burning oil going up from crankshaft thru piston rings...CTHE engine 2013.... I have on 1,4 GTI 24000 km and 1l per 5000 km, till 20000 km, CTHE engine, what I did is used Millers Engine Flush, than 5W40 and now is almost perfect!

My VW service is using Shell Professional AV-L 5W30 seems to be ok.

Poll?? No yet. Just here.

Approximately 1 liter for 10000 km, so one bottle between oil change (going every 10000 km to be sure to do best for my CTHE engine)
