Re: Fitting Lowering Springs

The strut top mounts are under the plastic mesh/scuttle cover on the Polo 6R. Pull the rubber seal off the front of the plastic panel, remove the windscreen wipers, then carefully pull the panel out of the base of the windscreen. It just clips in. Then you should have access to the strut top mount n...

Re: Newbee Polo 6c

Crikey, you have been busy! :D

I really love the colour, and the sun makes it look even better.

I like those trim mats too.

Congrats on the progress so far, will watch it with interest! :)

Re: Fitting Lowering Springs

Rear springs are a doddle, just need to jack the car up, compress the springs and swap out. Fronts are a bit more involved, you basically need to remove the suspension strut complete with spring and then compress it, disassemble the top mount, slip on the new compressed spring and then reassemble th...

Re: New GTI

Blimey, knock me down with a feather. Seen another one tonight, red like mine but without the pano roof I think. It was driving from the Kenilworth area towards Leamington Spa. (Are you on here, was that you?) 2 in 24 hours , never saw that many 6R's in 6 months. Crikey, 6C GTI Central where you ar...

Re: New GTI

I very rarely see any Polo GTI around here in Lincs, never mind the new one! I don't think they will sell in big numbers in ether manual or DSG, the Polo GTI has just never been a big seller in any series has it? Unfortunately, I don't think rarity seems to translate into firm residuals, as my recen...

Re: TheFrog's Blue GT 6C

Looks brilliant that!

I sometimes wonder if I should have gone for a Blue GT, I sometimes wonder if the GTI is right on the edge of 'overdone'!

Only sometimes though!

I have to say, the MkV polo has impressed me enormously since I got it.

Re: New GTI

I've done 80 miles in mine today, and I have to say the DSG is running as sweet as a nut, the best it's ever felt to be honest. They had my car for quite a while, replaced both clutch packs and updated the software. They spent quite a bit of time 'shimming' and then performing adaptations to get the...

Re: 6R or 6C

I think this was a case of where referring to cars by the factory codes on enthusiast car forums like this one can cause confusion!

I suppose for most people a Polo is a Polo, and they have no interest in whether it's a 6R or 6C.

I wonder what the 7R will look like?! :D

Re: New GTI

I will probably looking to map mine after a year (used to have a 230/250 9n3) and searched to see what box was in the 6c gti. It seems to be known as MQ350 and the dsq is a DQ200 Basically m (manual) q (transverse) 350 Nm. Although it will take more as long as it isn't abused. The weak point of the...

Re: Intercooler questions

I've got a forge intercooler sitting in my shed, just need a spare day to fit it now! I looked at a lot of options before choosing the forge, but decided the OEM look and ease of fitting were worth a few extra quid. The forge website states +10bhp across the range for a standard car, but more on a m...

That mod looks good Chrispy!

I agree the rear LED lights looks bit cheap.

Which Cree's did you get?

Re: AC/heating fan question

Its too far to go to the dealer but they are part of a national chain so hoping to get this sorted. I'm hoping for some info to arm myself with! I had a brand new Peugeot 307 do something very similar to what you describe a few years back. If I remember correctly they replaced the aircon control un...

Re: Best factory fit options for Polo BlueGT

Colour is a very personal thing, but I think a small car like the polo suits the flat colours. If you want pearl though, go for it! Re parking sensors, and again this is a personal thing, I really don't see the point unless you only have tight on street parking when I can possibly see it might help....

Re: Alloy stuck on!

Have you got a three leg flywheel/gear puller? That should get it off if it pulls away from the face of the hub far enough to get the puller legs behind? Or, and assuming the spigot is metal (aluminium?), apply some heat from a blow torch to try and expand it and then wiggle off with screwdrivers/pr...

Re: Paddle shift broken.

Oh dear... I know. What a wally. Lol. Oops! Ah well, lesson learned for you and shared with the rest of us, which is good! When you get your replacement, just to say, the 3M tape supplied with my extensions has done a sterling job and hasn't shifted. I made sure the paddle was cleaned with an...
