Exactly that. Tuning boxes need to be placed in the trash can, get them out of the cars.

Re: Questions performance upgrades 1.6 CR TDI

Amig: you're on the wrong forum. I mean serious engine building is forbidden territory here.
I mean, you need advices from people who actually build these, but it's very likely you wont find such people on random forums.
Ask about painting brake calipers instead

indeed :)
if you can get a stronger engine, go for it.

and pray to avoid the breaking down of anything in a TSI, it will hurt

My Polo is silk blue and a light gray wheel fits it perfectly..

Re: 1.4 TSI ACT DTUK FSR First Impressions

Never ever use these devices. It's manipulating 1 or 2 sensor's values only, and fcks up your engine.

Re: How many here are running wheel spacers?

The best solution is to get spacers with 57.1mm center bore and a same diameter flange for the wheel, so it won't cause wobble.
15mm and wider spacers can be made like this.

OR get a pair of 1" wider rims and put them in the back :)

Re: How many here are running wheel spacers?

OK I'm trying to be a bit more constructive. I've used many spacers in the past on my old cars, all the way from 5mm to 40. For street use, the safe limit is around 20mm. It adds a bit of unsprung weight of course, but it usually won't affect bearing lifetime more than a wider-bigger wheel. Going fr...

The more - the better looks - the worse for the car.

Re: Are You Using Oil?

Heh, i know. In the past i've had a more powerful and bigger coupe than the Polo GTI. Gotta admit, its fun in the first couple of weeks, but then you'll get used to the power.
To any amount of power, in fact.
And then the need of more power starts lurking in your head :)

Re: Are You Using Oil?

I've just finished reading all of the 67 pages, and even tho i feel sorry for all the people with the problematic engine, i have to admit i'm very pleased with getting the weak 3 cylinder version for less then half of the GTI price.. It runs without a hickup, needs no oil filling and has great fuel ...

i need 6R 17" wheel size data

heys, need info about 17" wheels. i know that 215/40 is the tyre size to go with, but what about the wheel parameters? I'm mostly worried about the offset. don't know that for 17s. the car isn't lowered at all. i need data like "8x17 inch, with 35 offset" or something similar. what do...

Re: Differences between CHYA and CHYB engine?

I'm not that desperate :) Those piggyback ECU's cost serious money. A couple of horsepower do not worth that, on this engine. Would be different story with a 140-180HP variant tho. Sadly the resistor boxes are the mainstream ones around here, no better ones. None would buy them for a higher price, b...

Re: Differences between CHYA and CHYB engine?

Oh there are many tuning box options to go with, but i'm not quite fond of the concept of those. A remap is OK, since it alters all of the engine parameters, but a tuning box only plays with the air temperature sensor, as i know. (it makes the engine think it's -50C outside, so the mixture is made r...
