The 1.8T engine has been around for ages (even in this platform, in ibiza for example), so why wait, it won't get any better.. :) The car is still pretty much the same old 9N, only a facelift with 30mm drop. ;) Btw, the new 2008 model is rumoured to have 1.4 TSI engine. (read from german Autobild ma...

You didn't say what platform (6N or 9N) and what engine? If it's a TDI engine then I guess you're out of luck if your trying to get it sound sportier.. you could run a diesel without backbox & silencer and it's still not very loud.. maybe an induction kit would do the trick but that might bring ...

I think the new 1.4 TSI engine would no doubt be smarter choice for polo (lighter weight for example). Anyway there will also be 140bhp version and that is more likely to get in polo than the 170bhp model which will be fitted in the new Golf GT .. meanwhile 1.8T is still tried and tested techonology...

Dump valve is not even technically possible on TDI. Well ok actually there is a kit from forge that accomplishes this but it is ridiculously expensive. After all the only benefit is a "psshht" sound so definitely not worth the money. btw, recirculating valve does not actually remove lag ei...

remember that the dahlback polo has been almost completely rebuilt and that the stock components are likely to fail or work very badly if you run your wheels that wide. IMO not a good idea.

Mine does this too sometimes.. no problems so far, 10tkm on clock. I wouldn't worry about it, might be the pump priming itself..

Well 147bhp in golf is still not blazing fast as it is a big car but yeah I'd say that is fairly quick. Got me interested though, what has he done to the car to get that much performance? Would like to see the dyno graph :) Anyway, what I ultimately meant was that VW are unlikely to give the 1.6 FSI...

I think the 1.6 FSI could be tuned to something like 125bhp max and then it would still not be very quick since although by todays standards polo is somewhat light it's still pretty heavy compared to GTI's from the past weighting well under 1000kg.. 1.8T 150bhp should take polo size car from 0-62 in...

My 1.4 TDI Polo (9N model)

Got some pictures taken (finally) so I thought to show my car here. I've modded the car a bit to my liking and although it has only 1.4 TDI engine it performs quite nicely now. Yet to dyno it but I will post the results in this thread when I get it done. My guess is something like +/- 100bhp accordi...

0-62mph 10.8sec.. sportline 1.6 fsi 85kw 155nm..

I think it's decent performance, wouldn't call it rapid though since you really have to work it to get it moving..

You mean the way the right exhaust pipe is a bit off to the centre.. I bet you could get it like that if you paid for it though. :P

The tube is narrower at the beginning so I'd see it as a restriction. It's very easy to remove and put back so I decided to test removing it. Well first impression was that the car feels to pick up yet even better from low revs. I think I should have a check now and then but the upper part of my air...

I've been thinking about removing it also since it's on the upper part of airbox after the filter so it shouldn't harm the engine in any way to remove it.. the tube looks a bit restrictive so I think I should get more benefit from cupra intake mod if I remove it, will let you know if I decide to do ...

The maximum power output did not change on mine (at least noticably) but the car pulls better (smoother) from lower revs, the engine note is also a bit sportier, or maybe I just like to think so.. :) Consumption is pretty much the same, driving style makes more difference IMO..

I'm also looking info on this, mainly interested fitting the backbox as I like the looks, anyway might be that the price is similar so better off buying supersprint or remus :)

edit: noticed that milltek make stainless exhaust for vrs so if the original would fit maybe this one too? :P
