Re: Dry Dipstick - How much Oil do you get through?
Don’t keep starting the car until the oil situation is resolved, you risk destroying the engine. I think you need to get someone experienced out to the car to check it. It could be something simple like a loose oil filter or sump plug. I’ve seen this before with garages having made mistakes. But it ...

Re: New GTI + delivery
Depending on demand and free capacity on other lines, typically Golf lines in Germany, some lucky people's 6C GTIs were built in Germany. Can you link to any proof of that? VIN numbers are an easy way to tell where a car was made. I’ve heard of people saying their 6Cs were made in Germany too which...

Re: New GTI + delivery
It was only finally all RHD Polos that stopped being produced in Spain and moved to SA, the previous version of Polo, ie 6C all 5 door RHD cars except GTI were built in SA, 3 door cars were built in Spain and at times in Germany along with all GTIs - then with this version of Polo all RHD productio...

Re: What MPG are owners getting in the real world?
I’ve only seen you and 1 other on here complain of low MPG with the 1.0TSI 95. The Real MPG average from owners reported on Honest John is 53.9... Obviously driving style has the biggest impact. But I didn’t drive the one I had particularly gently, in fact I revved it out on a motorway slip road to...

Completely agree.Andy Beats wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2019 8:53 am Agree with those who suggest taking out any finance deal that offers discounts, then settling.
Going straight in with cash is s very old fashioned method that can actually be worse.

Re: What MPG are owners getting in the real world?
There’s something not right with your 1.0TSI 95. No, what I'm getting is in line with others on here. It's actually rarer to see people reporting the figures you are. I've never seen 50mpg on the display, in any circumstances. I’ve only seen you and 1 other on here complain of low MPG with the 1.0T...

Re: What MPG are owners getting in the real world?
The Polo GTI will do 47mpg on a long run, maintaining 80mph on the motorway. That's impressive. I can get 47mpg on the motorway in the 1.0tsi, but only if I stay nearer 70mph. Approach 80mph and the MPG plummets. Really, there doesn't seem to be a scenario where the 1.0tsi gives better MPG than the...

Re: Buying New Polo: Deals To Expect?
I noted the other day you can buy a brand new Seat Leon SE 1.5 EVO 130 6-speed for £13075. Including metallic paint. That’s a 30% discount from Drivethedeal.
That’s got to be better value than a Polo SE 1.0TSI 95 with the 5 speed gearbox (that people on here complain about)?

Re: 1.4 overheating...
Steel pipe runs above the head, under the plastic cover on the return from the rad. Probably a mix of corrosion and some sort of rad sealant, certainly nothing getting past it. I know that Mk4 Golfs at least had waterpumps with plastic impellers that could break up. I’d take the waterpump out &...

Re: Handbrake
Update: My Polo went to a different VW main dealer who adjusted the handbrake again and cleaned the breaks (drums?) It has made it slightly better, but not as good as it should be – My daughter can now get it to hold on most hills - but often needing both hands to pull it on!!! VW Customer services...

Re: TPS
Does anyone know if there's a fault with the tyre pressure monitoring? I had it set to 32 PSI and had a puncture. The light never came on and only noticed the puncture one evening. Got it repaired and checked all tyres to find them all below 20 PSI. Indirect TPMS only works if 1 tyre deflates while...

Re: Still loving the car?
My only real regret is not ordering climate control for the wife as she's going to be cold driving it in the winter - it's really in need of an auxiliary heater for those first 6 miles of a Winter journey. The plugin VW Connect's app implies that there may be a way to retrospectively add an aux hea...

Re: Solid paint options in the UK cost more on Polo than any other VW car model!
They've dropped the 1.5 from the Ibiza, at least for now. Partly due to WLTP, but also due to availability. The 1.5 is a very popular engine across the VW Group, I wouldn't be surprised if they're prioritising it in other vehicles. The 1.5 EVO engine has a design fault which can cause loss of engin...
