Thx Scorpio. Insurance in S.A. is pretty good. I've now changed from personal use to professional use insurance. On my Polo, it was R258.00 (roughly £21.00), and now on the Mini it's R345.00 (£28.00) - based on ZAR12.50 - £1. It's all done on our family scheme, so we get a fairly good discount. I...

Okay, fair enough - but there are plenty of 'lemons' around in any make and model of cars. I know of a guy, whom bought a Polos for his wife and mother-in-law - both giving huge problems. Another: Merc C220CDi - so mucg problems, MBSA exchanged it for another car. 3 years ago, Renault SA gave my dad...

...so I sold the Polo...
After much though and inner deliberation, I decided to sell the Polo and buy a Mini. Even with all the hick-ups and stuff I had with the Polo - I'm still going to miss it. Took the Mini for a test drive this morning - and I was hooked. Being a rare sight on South African roads - it's a real attentio...

Disgrace!
I've now joined those of you disgraced with your cars, because of poor built quality! I'm seriously considering selling the car, as it's year is almost up - and getting a new Mini. The rear discs now make an aweful noise when I reverse and brake - irratating! When I park the car, and switch it off, ...

VW loves those 8 Valve engines!
VWSA has dropped the 1.4 16V unit it uses in the Polo and Polo Classic models. It has been replaced by a 1.4 8V unit, giving a 2kW power boost. This is not the first time VWSA has does this. A few years back, with the Golf and Jetta II, it dropped a 1.8 16V unit for a 1.8 8V (think it was called Dig...

I've heard of upgrading, but de-grading?
VWSA has decided to degrade some of their cars. Our local range is very limited to 4 engines and basically 2 trim levels. The 1.6 Standard models that came fully colour coded, will now feature black door strips, side mirrors and door handles. My question is - why?? I was also heavily dissapointed in...

The Polo Sedan (branded the Polo Classic in S.A.), has been such a huge success locally, that there are now more sedans on South African roads than hatchbacks - and the hatchback had an 8 month head start! The most polupular Polo's in S.A. seem to be the 1.4TDi version, followed closely by the 1.6 S...

About the SatNav thingie - it will not have a tv function, as the display is just a normal LCD screen, and it's only a basic system that's fitted to the Polo. Also check the buttons - no TV function! As for the side mirrors...why do you say they are different? I checked your pic against those on my ...
