Polo R Line 1.0Tsi - MPG
So we have had our car about a year......not that impressed with the mpg... we get about 40 , what are others experience with this engine ? Last fill up was 36mpg overall. We get about 55 on a run , but nowhere near the quoted manufacturers mpg , now there's a surprise !

Re: 1.0TSI Cambelt or Chain
How come our old Mini Cooper D (peugeot hdi engine) doesn't need a belt till 10 years old and also our Land Rover Freelander at 10 years too ? Why can't VW make it 10 years if others can ? On similar note to your MK6 cam chain my sons 2006 MK5 Gti has had two belts and water pumps and now needs a ca...

Re: 1.0TSI Cambelt or Chain
This link is a report a out the new 1.0tsi engine, but in a Golf http://www.greencarcongress.com/2015/06/20150602-golf.html In the report you will see that "they" say the belt should last the life of the engine. This morning the service department advises me on checking their maintenance s...

Also SRGTD
The launch of the 1.0tsi stated the cam belt would last the life of the engine , as ROMANO eluded to in the linked thread....... Would be good to know what VW say.

Re: 1.0TSI Cambelt or Chain
He told me that the price to change the cambelt in todays prices is £600 which at present they are discounting to £400. That higher figure is like RRP i think and they never charge the full amount. I think it is a bit of a ploy to get me to buy the maintenance off them and get the £400 cambelt chang...

Re: Polo R Line 1.0tsi First Service
I just sent an email asking the price of the oil in a first service for our car. I got an email answer and then booked over the phone. So nobody booking would know i had asked the question.

Re: Polo R Line 1.0tsi First Service
I have been in touch with Wolsey VW and they have told me the oil required for this first service is £9 + VAT a litre and is shell oil. Where the other poster got £80-£90 from i don't know , but that is b@llocks !
I will be using their oil , the stuff i have bought can go in my boys GTI.

Re: Polo R Line 1.0tsi First Service
Castrol Edge 5w30 LL 4 litres on route to me from Opie Oils = £32.95 free postage off ebay
Will book a Service at VW for them to do the first service with oil provide by me. How they can charge £80-£90 for the same oil is outrageous and will be pointed out to them.

Re: Polo R Line 1.0tsi First Service
What oil does the 1.0tsi use ? I am NOT paying £80/90 for oil from them. What quantity do i need ? I'm guessing a bit here, but, all modern VW petrol engines tend to use the same engine oil - as that makes life safer at dealership workshops, well maybe with the exception of some higher powered vari...

Re: Polo R Line 1.0tsi First Service
Assume the OP doesn't have a service plan, otherwise why go to the Skoda dealer and pay for a service that's either free if VW were offering this as part of finance deal (if you took finance) or you're already paying for a service plan by monthly direct debit? To the OP: just a few points to consid...

Re: Polo R Line 1.0tsi First Service
The reason to choose Skoda is that it is 2 miles from our home. The local VW Ipswich are poor and the next nearest VW is over 20-25 miles away. We travelled 90 miles to get this car as VW Wolsey Ipswich couldn't be bothered to contact us even after i told them exactly what we were after , New R Line...

Polo R Line 1.0tsi First Service
So our car is due its first service in a couple of weeks. Don't expect there is much to it other than a change of oil. But any advice suggestions welcome. I am also thinking of not having it done at our local VW garage and am thinking of the local Skoda garage. Don't think there will be any issues w...
