Re: Tools needed for changing springs
It appears you don't really know what you're doing. The rear is easy to do, you'll need a 15 and 16mm socket to release the shocks from the beam axle. The front is a lot more difficult due to the McPherson struts. The spring is coiled around the shock absorber. If you don't know what you're doing, ...

Re: Lowering just the rear?
im interested in buying some 25/40mm springs from someone for a good price. I got a quote of £150 for installation which I'm not really looking to spend. Ive been looking up how to install yourself and am considering doing so. However if worse comes to worst, because the rears are so much easier to...

Re: Lowering springs
Hi! :D If you have original VW wheels then there is no problem for lowering with springs 25/30mm H&R or Eibach Prokit. Probably you know the car will be harder then before, but car will be better on curves. Here is photo of mine before/after. 215/40/17 original VW Budapest Cross Polo wheels wit...

Lowering springs
Looking to lower my car slightly, just to close the arch gap. Running 17" 225/45 wheels, someone said they might rub with those dimensions. Any one got springs with those wheels?

Re: Spigot rings
Legally your car is unroadworthy, your insurance is invalid, you are in danger, so am I if you drive near me....what do you think? Okay so I got the rings today, went to put them on one of the wheels and..it didn't go in. It seems as if there's already a thick metal ring in there that won't budge. ...

Re: Spigot rings
You will probably only notice when the movement loosens or breaks the wheel nut and you become a Reliant Robin, or worse! On modern cars the centre spigot holds the wheel in place, the wheel nuts are a secondary fitment. Fit the adaptors or go back to the original wheels. Not wishing to be melodram...

Spigot rings
Just fitted some 17" alloys on the polo with an undetermined centre bore. I know that the car is 57.1 and test fitted the alloys hoping they'd fit. I put them on with no trouble and there's no wiggle or movement. However I've contacted the manufacturer of the wheels and they say they have a cen...

Car feels slanted after changing wheels
Just changed my 14" steels to some 17" alloys and can't help but think it's slanted to the passenger side slightly. I've measured but both sides are roughly the same.
Is there anything I could have done wrong that would cause this?

Re: Alloy bolts?
bascially, you'll be having two types of wheel bolts that should NOT EVER be mixed up. you have the simple cones. the side looks straight. like a traffic cone on a stick. and the spherical heads. they look like half a ball on a stick. http://checkpoint-safety.com/sites/checkpoint-safety.com/files/p...

Alloy bolts?
Bought some preowned 17" alloys for my polo but didn't come with the bolts. I know I can't use the existing ones so how do I know what to order? Obviously I know the 5x100 setup but is there a specific thread or length bolt I need?

Centre bore question
Just bought some 17" wolfrace katana alloys that were fitted to an old polo. Haven't tried fitting them yet but I know that the polos centre is 57.1 and when I've measured the alloys I bought they're around 56. However I got out my spare wheel from the car and measured the hubs centre bore and ...
