Re: My Solution To White Worm Diamond Cut Alloys
With my powder coated alloys, they stay on the car all year round and only come off when the time comes to sell the car, when the unmarked ‘bling-bling’ diamond cut alloys go back on. I then sell the powder coated alloys and recoup some of the initial purchase cost. Good idea, but expensive outlay ...

Re: Service items- things that will fail
This is relation to 2015 1.4 TDI model 90bhp, 6R. Brakes Echo what's been mentioned before regards rear disc handbrake. Pointless going down additional return spring route. Caliper suffers from aluminium oxide corrosion, especially on the rubber shroud where handbrake plate connects. You can fix pro...

Re: My Solution To White Worm Diamond Cut Alloys
I don't get why all the main car manufacturers seem to totally love diamond cut alloys and virtually all cars now have them even though they have known for many years that they are not durable or practical and will not stay looking very nice for very long! It's the bling factor. When these cars wer...

Interesting information here about G13 coolant and the dreaded silica bag. Re: Coil spring colour codes
Apologies for delay on this - just conscious if anyone is searching these forum topics - that they get a final answer. Anyway - I thought my Polo ride height at the back was too high, hence I posed the question a few months ago. Well, the answer lies with your main dealer via your registration plate...

Re: Coil spring colour codes
If you're attempting this job RUM4MO, then get yourself some internal cylinder circlip pliers. I don't really rate Neilsen tools, but their pliers are very good for this job. Also Autodoc tends to throw up numerous versions of brake rebuild kits, so look at the brake code for your car, if rear discs...

Re: Coil spring colour codes
Where do you source your calliper repair kits from Bigg Red or elsewhere. I used to use Bigg Red, but honestly their website has been under construction for months now and their EBay shop has conflicting information. Nope, Autodoc for me. So much choice. I replaced the rear caliper seals on my Allr...

Re: Coil spring colour codes
Thanks for the links to the return springs, that's really informative. I can fit them when I'm back home at the weekend. With these fitted I'll have guns like the hulk! I would say though if anyone has a handbrake is failing, and mine was although still low mileage at 40k miles, is to rebuild the ca...

Re: Coil spring colour codes
I never got around to phoning VW but I'll try tomorrow. Thanks for the update RUM4MO regards springs. My daughter has a 1.2 TSI Bluemotion same year and it doesn't sit as high. I'll do some measurements at the weekend. I bought the external handbrake springs, but I can't see how to fit them if it's ...

Coil spring colour codes
Evening folks. Does anyone know a link to Volkswagen's rear coil spring colour codes for Polos? It's a 2015 plate 1.4 TDI (90PS) Bluemotion. It was bought from a dealer a couple of years ago under DasWelt Auto approved cars so I've no reason to think it's anything other than genuine, but I think the...

Re: What tyres do you recommend?
If you're considering keeping the car for a while, then opt for winter tyres and wheel package. I've been a convert for some time. It revolutionises how the car behaves. I also run an Audi quattro, but even with permanent 4-wheel drive, a car with summer tyres in winter is next to useless. Back to y...

Re: Headlight polish
I wouldn't be in a rush to spray clear coat lacquer on them, especially as you've done such a good job on the restoration. What I've read it's more of an issue if the headlight has been wet sanded, and depending on the type of polycarbonate used in manufacture. You'd probably have to degrease the he...

Re: How important is cam belt change?
How much is it approx to change a cam belt? (UK) Just read this and think I should get mine done asap. It's 2012 reg and not had a change yet. Is it ok to use a non-VW dealer garage? I always feel ripped off by them... Thanks! Not all VW dealers are bad - and you can get fixed price servicing deals...

Re: How important is cam belt change?
Spend the money and get the belt and waterpump changed. As mentioned, changing the belt on its own is false economy, it's not unusual for some of the internal bearings to fail and these can be picked up at the belt renewal. I'd also think having the belt changed will add value to the car when you co...

Re: Drilling a hole in rear wheel arch body to adjust KW
Just take the shocks off - it's not a difficult job, axle stands, trolley jack, decent socket set and ring spanners, PlusGas penetrating oil, allen-key set, wire brush, torque wrench.
