Re: Vw polo 3 variant 1.4 -01
No problem, just sharing my view on the subject. One would say that all these engines are equal, but there might be slight changes made over the years. I cannot guarantee another engine is a straight fit. You might have to change some components, sensors or connectors or it might just be plug and pl...

Re: Vw polo 3 variant 1.4 -01
Ouch! Judging from just 1 picture....I would say it's done. A rod doesn't just break, there has to be an reason for this. It can be practically anything from factory faulty part(s) to oil starvation. Pieces of broken metal have probably travelled through your entire oil system as well, they can prob...

Re: What is this for? Polo 6N. Air filter pipe.
By the looks of it your hose/pipe has had its best years, probably for the same reasons Alex mentioned previously. As far as I can see, it has already been repaired twice. If I were you, I'd replace both. See illustration below for your specific engine code. You will need partnumbers 19 and 28a. 19 ...

Re: Confused over timing belt advice
- Are you sure your Polo has a belt instead of a chain? In 2014 they changed from chain to belt, the old version has a chain (engine code CBZC) and the new version (engine code CJZC) has a belt. Normally speaking, the chain was originally meant to last a lifetime. If you speak of lifetime use....I t...

Re: How to access the pneumatic actuator in the fuel lid
I think he means the fuel cap locking actuator. If you open the boot, it's going to be on the right side behind the panel/carpet (between the wheel well and the rear light). It's held on by 2 screws and easy to take off. Nevertheless...mounting it back on might be quite fiddly. I recommend not doing...

If I look up the part I find this illustration. Part nr 38 should be the one you are missing. Re: Rear Suspension Strut Spring Plate and Mount
I just read your other post. To be honest, I think the chance of you getting hold of these parts might be very slim. And if you find them, they are probably second hand and deteriorated to a certain extent. After all, we are talking about a 20+ year old car. You might get lucky, so I hope you find t...

Re: Headlight headache with Polo
Headlight reflectors for left hand drive vehicles are not the same for right hand drive vehicles. If mixed up, the lights can blind oncoming traffic which may result in a fail. Does not necessarily mean that your bulbs are at fault. Are you sure you sure you've bought the right type of headlights fo...

There won't be any significant updates regarding the Polo from now on. My eldest daughter has inherited the car and I've bought myself a new daily.

The first thing that comes to mind is that someone has fiddled with the ignition switch. Maybe there was a problem and was bypassed this way. Have you checked the ignition switch?

Re: Question: 1.0 37kW warm/hot vs cold Engine
Your problem may be caused by different issues. I'm not experienced with the 1.0 engine, but I know for a fact that 1.4 and 1.6 engines often have PCV and EGR issues. EGR & PCV: The valves and lines (to and from the valves) can get clogged which result in poor performance and juddering. Throttle...

Re: 6n1 - 6n2 compatibly
Hi Telbert, I'm not 100% sure if the Golf MK4 hatch lock module will fit a 6N1. By chance, I own both cars and I've fiddled with both modules. To be honest, they look exactly the same, but I've never tried swapping them. Why not try a 6N1 or 6N2 central locking module and fabricating some kind of br...
