Re: Turbo ?!

If it's via VW on finance, then changing the turbo will breach your contract with them. I wouldn't even consider it

Re: Turbo ?!

The turbo isn't much different. The displacement of the engine is where the additional power is

Re: Turbo ?!

The engine is quite different. The pistons are hardened for a start, along with a load of other changes to cope with the higher output

Is this on VW finance?

Re: Turbo ?!

Not without a huge amount of work

Turbo, manifold, intercooler, Ecu, loom and that's not even half of it

Better to sell up and get a TSI model

Re: Attempt at owning yet another polo

VCDS is what you want to use diagnostic wise Diesel cleaner use comma diesel magic all day long. Use it on a half tank though instead of a full tank as it'll give a more concentrated clean :) That's pretty impressive MPG As for the temperature drop, sounds like the thermostat isn't working properly....

Re: Car won't start after short trips.

Normally the temperature gauge misbehaves and will either not register or never hit 90 on the dash

The relays very rarely if ever fail on these

Re: New (to me) 6N2: Gear shifter problems

Its probably just a sticking spring. A bit of lubrication from underneath may fix it.

The gear shift lever is the same on mk4 golfs, so you can probably just swap it out.

Re: Car won't start after short trips.

Sounds like the age old temperature sensor failing making it very difficult to start once warmed up.

Re: Attempt at owning yet another polo

I have a 1.4 TDI 9n3 which is the same block. I find a bottle of diesel magic and a regular service works wonders. Its done 110k and still returns 55-60mpg all day long :)

Re: breadvan banded dilemmas

The rear arches on mk3s are incredibly tight. Short of pulling the arches, and modifying the wheel well profile, there isnt much you can do.

For photos, youll need to put them on imageshack or similar, then copy the links to the images back to the forum

Re: Fuel Sender / fuel connectors

I would go to a scrappy, cleanly cut the connectors off with 6inches of hose

Get some fuel line brass inserts to prevent them crushing when you clamp then

Join the fuel lines with a small section of R9 injection hose and fuel hose clamps

Re: 280mm discs with standard stone guard?

You can get an four plus centre section for the GTI and a TDI four plus rear silencer - both genuine, from TPS that will work perfectly

The only difference with the rear silencer is it's twin pipe, but it's hidden same as the original

Re: Fuel Sender / fuel connectors

Jesus what a mess that is

A new fuel sender, some R9 fuel injection hose and some new pop on connectors should resolve that
