"new style ARB" - yes the original ARBs had plastic lugs or stops, as this is a torsion device, the (hard) paint ended up cracking and allowing water in to the bare metal - this caused the area under the plastic stops to expand and split the plastic stops. The newer ARBs have metal stops t...

I've checked on my ETOS parts cat and this p/n covers all models up to 9N-3Y192 695 - with or without A/C irrespective of engine type. The correct name for this part is "lock carrier".

Nick :D I think that you mean a MK5 ie 6N - MK6 is 9N and has a hydraulic clutch. My daughter has an early 2002 Ibiza and I reckon her one should go bang soon - I've already lub...

I have bought Cupra bushes and will get them fitted for me soon - I emailed Powerflex as there seems to be confusion as to what form the bush takes - the rear one. I worded the question roughly as follows "what form does the TCA rear bush take - is it a complete replacement or does it complimen...

I'd get someone to check up that every thing is okay behind the bumper! The fact that the bumper cover is not destroyed is no indication to what has actually happened behind it (the expensive bits). My 2000 Passat was shunted by a 2003 Golf, my car only needed a new steel inner bumper and the bumper...

Re: All the goodies for the car arrived today

Jeff why didnt u fit the GTI Xenons Headlamps? Ive got the xtrem phillips bulbs on my 9n but there nowhere near as good as original HIDs..[/quote] Back in 2001 all the pre-launch info, including that from VW said that HIDs would be available on the 9N Polo - they lied! I have factory fitted ...

the torque will go through the flywheel anyways not gearbox. Is someone dreaming here! As Wouter has implied, a gearbox is only made to withstand the engine loadings that it would see in normal service, but there again what an interesting concept - so you could transmit 300HP and huge lumps of torq...

Cyberx, yes the Seat Cupra non-voided - ie solid rubber bushes will fit into the consoles. Remember these bushes will be very difficult to fit into the aluminium consoles without access to the correct tool.

I've just bumped into this, I take it that you now know that your anti roll bar is becoming u/s. These plastic stops break free and the bar starts to move from side to side hitting the aluminium consoles and making a lot of knocking. Only fix is new style ARB, new bushes and maybe new pipe clamp mou...

Some time ago I made up solid wooden ramps - 4-off with a long lowish initial state then a second long higher stage, and of course stops at the ends. The correct position for placing axle stands is at the four indicated VW jacking points - the welded/folded seam is stronger at these four points. The...

Buzby, did you not mean it is normal for a stationary car to have toe out. When the power is on, the wheels will try and escape from the car and draw the wheels to the straight ahead position. It is a very well known fact that the front wishbone rear voided bushes are a problem in these cars, eventu...

Colour pack - this car could have been a personal import, if you import your car you get the chance to build it up as you want it, not just one of the ones that the dealer had supplied to him by VW UK.

Suspension squeeks

I complained about this back in February 2003 - just 4 months after (importing) buying the car, I called it "mooing" and saw it mentioned elsewhere (can't remember where) - but absolutely no joy. Now this month at 34000 miles, one of the antiroll bar collars has walked out - see my other p...

ANTI ROLL BARS

Gurrrrr, I've just had the usual broken plastic collars on my wife's 2002 1.4SE Polo. It cost £240 to replace the bar, links and mountings. I just bought the parts, disconnected the links and mounts - then thought - how do I realign this lot - ie the complete lower frame etc? I made a good choice (...
