Re: Weird alloy wheel centre cap deterioration
Maybe just phone the parts dept of your local VW main dealership, quoting that part number, that will get a reference price, too people just jump into ebay and pay extra for no good reason. For something "not exactly essential", once I know the dealer price, I tend just to keep an eye on t...

Re: Weird alloy wheel centre cap deterioration
My wife has an August 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL, and so that means 5 spoke 16" alloys for Summer use, all the original centre caps on these wheels are still "like new", we swop the wheels over late October for 15" VW alloys for Winter use fitted with winter tyres, and I bough...

Re: Rear wiper issue
The washer nozzle should just pull off/out allowing you to cover that area with sticky tape to protect it while you work on getting that alloy part up/off the wiper motor tapered spindle. Also scrub the grooved/splined section with something - an old tooth brush would work, then apply some grease so...

Re: Key Fob Question - Urgent
Maybe, if you were really really brave, you could locate the immob pellet - looks like a small tablet > capsule, and ease it out of the broken plastic housing and swop it with the one in the replacement plastic housing. I've never had to do this, but I did prepare for needing to "get" a re...

Re: Demisting
Yes, I went from a 1991 Vauxhall Cav GSI 4X4 - which had the sensible button for the mirror heater, and a timer for the rear window heater, to a new VW Passat 4Motion in 2000, it had the silly rotating mirror switch and no timer on the rear window heater - I did not find that very sensible, plus as ...

Re: Slight Shiver on Tickover
Excellent news! Mainly my issue with some workshops not fully complying with VW Group's recommendations is, typically the sort of person that takes their car in for servicing is not "car savvy" - that is fine or okay, but, and it can end up being a big "but", as time goes on, the...

Re: Engine oil 504/507 instead of 508/509💲💲
Remember also that there are or were some EA888 engines that have particulate filters fitted during initial build, that "can't" use 508/509 oils, so certain 504/507 oils seem to okay to use on these EA888 engines with particulate filters. Also some 504/507 oils are available as low viscosi...

Re: 1.2TSI CJZD Intake Gaskets
I am not too sure if you can get enough access to view the inlet ports on the cylinder head without dumping the coolant, I've even bought new bolts only because someone on one of these VW Group forums had these manifold screws included in the parts used to get in there and replace a broken injector ...

Re: Slight Shiver on Tickover
My wife has an August 2015 1.2TSI 110PS Polo 6MT, the VW advice was always to replace the spark plugs at 4 years or maybe 60,000 miles, my wife's Polo is now at almost 47,000 miles, and I've replaced the spark plugs twice, ie at the "year 4" service and then again at the "year 8"...

Re: Thoughts on the usefulness of fuel additive G001770A2
Fuel additive are useless, except to burn you money. Due to DI (direct injection) carbon build up can't be removed with this kind of additive. To remove carbon build up, you have to remove air intake and manually clean the valves. For cleaning injector, why not but, with no visual inspection it's h...

Re: POLO 6C PDC PARKING SENSOR RETROFIT
Keeping with "keeping it cheap", back in 2015 or 2016, I used up over £400 to add front PDC to my 2011 Audi S4, and the cost difference between doing it to that car and your Polo will be nominal/minimal, so if you get all this completed and use up less than £650, then I think, that you wil...

Re: POLO 6C PDC PARKING SENSOR RETROFIT
Have you checked to see what companies like Kufatec offer - maybe you can glean info from how they are describing their offerings, I'm suggesting that as I added front PDC to my 2011 Audi S4 and bought the relevant cables from Kufatec, then all the other genuine parts via ebay, some used, the sensor...

Re: Gearboxes, gear oil, and levels
You may have been lucky. Official VW Oil's price on eBay are just crazy. Equivalent or, more expensive than the dealer it self. Yes I agree, it is always better to start off by finding out the VW Group dealership prices before looking for "bargains" on ebay. When I bought both the trans f...

Re: Gearboxes, gear oil, and levels
I've not needed to buy any gearbox etc fluids for my wife's 2015 Polo 1.2TSI, but I have done for my 2011 Audi S4 gearbox and rear differential - and I used ebay, hopefully buying well below main dealer prices for the genuine VW Group products. I'd doubt if my wife's Polo 6 speed gearbox uses the sa...

Re: Gearboxes, gear oil, and levels
Really, it is down to the additive package in the oil, as @alexperkins said earlier. A long time ago, when I was changing from maybe Quantum branded oil to Fuchs when Quantum had moved away from using Fuchs, I did email Fuch UK sales about "is brand X which is known to be supplied by Fuchs, the...
