Re: Anyone had a bad problem with the engine miss firing???
When the revs drop and try reviving itself it is the 'erratic revs' problem common on 6n's. This would usually happen when you're coming to a stop and breaking or dipping the clutch. Search the term on the forum and you'll find so many culprits. The colder weather tends to reap havoc on cars with th...

Re: 16v Gearbox Recondition
Best way to keep it running that way is never rag the gearbox no matter how nice that 4k rev band sounds! For some reason I've found it nice and smooth when I let the car warm up first. Never take it from 1st to reverse as there's a chance of crunching. You'd minimise the chances by buting it in neu...

Have your suspension checked, if the noise happens whilst you turn then it may be the bearings.

Re: Polo Spare Keys
Its best to get a full set from a scrappy. Do you know anywhere to get a spare set of keys with the immobiliser chip in East London NOZ? Go to the big Leytonestone Tesco. On the far right of their car park there is a Key cutting and laundry shop. They can definetly do any kind of transponder keys, e...

Re: 16v Gearbox Recondition
You defo can get uprated bearings BUT i'm not sure where, may Venommotorsport can help or have them.
As for the price, it sounds fair although it depends how bad the internals are on yours and if it'll all be replaced.

^^ As TIm said above.
Original ones are Mini-lites. You need Super-lites which do various fitments.

Re: MK 4 idling temperature etc
How quick does the needle move side to side? If it's slow then it probably is the thermo OR the fact the days are getting colder now so its messing it around. Can't remember but I recall hearing that water/condensation out the back is a sign your engines running clean! Find out first before t...

Re: dying box
Unfortunety I can't be specific about the actual bearings you'll need to replace. It's probably best to get the whole box reconditioned replacing everything needing a fix. You can insert rally bearings for a slight improvement.

Re: offset....
The offset or 'ET' for a 6n is recommended between 35-38. However, you can exceed it without hassle till you get around 28 depending on tyre size and ride height.
The lower the number = the more your wheel stick out from the arch.
