Agree with Martin, I regularly get mid to high 50's on my weekly 40 mile round trip to visit my dear old mum. A mix of town, A road and motorway, its all about the driving style, smoothness and anticipation seems to be the key.

I have a 3 door Blue GT and my seats slide forward when the backrest handle is lifted, admittedly they were very stiff and had to kind of wrestle them forward with a bit of force at the base of the seat.

Heard of a few folk who have asked VW not to touch the car when it arrives off the transporter at the dealership, and got a detailer that they trust to prep the car prior to them collecting it.

No the newer style bearing consoles still need to be pulled out and pressed into the hub.

It does recommend in the owners manual to run the engine in for the first 1000km or so at no more than 2/3rds of top engine speed and from 1000-1500km to gradually increase driving performance to top speed and highest engine speed.
