VW use Castrol Edge LonglifeIII 5W30, but some says, to use different brand, I changed oil in mine GTI when I had 10000 km on it, VW service put Shell 5W30, but very important are those numbers 504.00/507.00!! They said is good to leave 30000 km long life interval and change the oil in 10000 or 1500...
