Right,

This mod in on my medium, long term plans, so I'll share the info i already collected about this.

first: it can be done:

Next, not all Golf IV clocks ( tachos) will work. I believe they must have ohne can bus. But you should investigate this by yourself. But i'll check with more people who have already done this.

Fitting the tacho, you will have to get a small bar, where the old tacho sits on. You dont have much space there, but it will fit.

The adaptor, should do his work. It's plug and play, it seems. You should check if the plug is plug and play on both sides or if its prepared only for one end and you will have to connect all the other wires to the other side.
But that is easy, since you have a guide, its just a question of pluggin in the right wires

the schematics goes like this ( in portuguese, but i can translate)

T28/1 - Azul/7, 6, 9, 19, 24 - MASSA
T28/2 - Azul/22 – Indicação da Ã

Right,

The adaptor your getting should come with the schematics of what connects to what. but if required i'll translate this and PM you.
Oh, and check if the adaptor is for the older or newer clocks on the polo. As you know, the clocks changed from 98 onwards.

polo_dude, that picture is not of my car. Even though i also have red lighting in my buttons ( currently doing the conversion!)
For the heater controls, it's pretty simply actually:
You can change either the bulbs or the plastic that gives the colour. For perfect results you should change both.

Here's the pics from a small DIY available at the dutch polo club http://www.vwpolo.nl/
