Polo 9N3 -How to remove plastic section behind seat adjuster

Post by ianmt »

Hi guys. I had a worn piece of plastic behind my drivers seat adjuster (Polo 9N3). This is normally caused by people catching their foot on the plastic, causing it to warp due to being rather thin. Here's my how to guide:-

The part no. you will need is:- v6q3 881 478 c7 1n v6q3 881 478 b7 1n/t
Cost was 5.52 plus vat

This is the part behind the adjuster wheel:-

To get some grip to pull the wheel off, you will need to remove the rubber ring. Just pick it off at an edge and you should be able to work your way around and peel it off:-

Next, take a firm grip of the wheel and give it a pull - it should come off. I found that easing it from the back made it easier to come off. This part is just clipped on:-

Now, get inside the back and look under the right section of the seat. You will see that the plastic is held on two clips on right and left sides. Ease the left side off first:- Image

then pull the right side so that the plastic is now free:- Image

It should look like this:- Image

Now, pull up and left and the piece should come totally out. I give mine a little wiggle and it came free:- Image

And heres the offending piece. You can't see clearly enough in the picture but the bottom is really warped:-

To refit new piece, repeat these steps in reverse!
