cheap way of getting 256mm brakes with abs on 6n2

Post by georgen »

If you have standard polo 6n2 with 239mm front brakes and want 256mm brakes but cant find the hubs with separate brake carriers and gti calipers for the right price. find yourself some 6n 16v complete hubs, carriers, calipers and disks (much cheaper than gti ones). now press 6n2 hubs flanges out of hubs,(you will need a 10 ton press) then press 6n 16v hubs flange out of hubs, if your bearings are shot, when you press out they will fall apart and you will need new ones, mine were ok and have done several thousand miles with no grumbling or ill effects. now press your standard hub flange that has abs ring into the 6n 16n hubs, these hubs have the place for the abs sensor to go in, you might be better off running a M6 tap into sensor bolt hole to clean out threads. refit hub with sensor, fit 16v disk, carrier and swap caliper for 16v one, bleed and all done. If you leave caliper till end, swapping over quick will not lose much fluid and bleeding will take a couple of pumps only.
