wassat 1551 code mean then

Post by polo2k »

not so much diy as in that you need to go to the dealer to find out the code (or use a vag com) but if you can get a print out from the machine telling you the fault codes then you can find out why they occured
eg i had a cel the other day and went to get it cleared, when it was cleared there were 2 stored faults and the print out looked like this
(please excuse it but its translated from french)
030906032dt me7.5.10
code 00031

2 stored faults this is how many total faults are stored
16603 p0219 035 the bold tells us the fault code in the table

sporadic activity

165 p0134 035 again the bold tells us the fault code in the table
bank 1- sensor 1
absence of activity

now we go to this link http://www.bentleypublishers.com/tech/vw/dtc.table.htm
so by looking in the table we see that
p0219 is "Engine Overspeed Condition" which is basically telling us that the engine has gone past the limiter (prolly on a spirited downshift  )
p0134 is "O2 Sensor Circ.,Bank1-Sensor1 No Activity Detected2 which indicates a possible bad connection/broken wire/dead sensor since ive been messing with an af ratio meter i have benn doing a lot of experimenting on this so i can live with this code :D
i hope the link helps

Cheers for the info Ash...

Looks like you've got quite a collection of fault codes now!
