reborn 6n2 has teething problem

Post by CatherineC »

My 17 year old has just been given my Grandads old Polo to learn to drive in. The clutch was gone which is why it went off the road 4 years ago. The clutch was changed, a full service including belts and new discs and pads later and it sailed the MOT.

Now the issue is jumping out of 3rd gear. In a straight line or turning right it never jumps out but try turning left and out it pops. My husband is convinced he has put the selector cables back correctly and to be fair it feels fine when changing gear but something is wrong. Obviously we have asked the question and last time it was driven it didn't have a problem.

Anybody seen such a fault or any ideas/suggestions?

Thank you
Catherine

The gear selection mechanism on these is very precise. If the cables havent been put back exactly right, it wont stay in gear

I think youll need to get them corrected. There is a proper jig to set them up, albeit only main VW dealers have it.
