Tyre Profile > MPG?

Post by Whos Adam? »

Recently switched from my 165/70/14 standard wheels to some nice 205/40/17's
and there was a noticeable drop in MPG, is this wheels or could it be something else?

Cheers

Could be. Are you running the same tyre pressure?

What kind of alloys are your running?

If they are a lot heavier this can also affect it

Width, size and weight all contribute mate. On my previous car (Passat) I swapped 16`s for 18`s which were very heavy and wider and the mpg dropped massively. I later sold them on as I did`nt like how the car handled
