Polo 9n Knocking/creaking noise! Please Help!

Post by spermbank »

Hi guys,

My 9n has started making an annoying noise,

It makes a kind of creaking knocking noise from the front left, when you accelerate or let of your foot, or brake.

I have checked under the car, and nothing visually seems wrong, nothing loose or wonky.

Ive had a read up, and that made it no clearer.

Its almost like the engine is making the noise when you let off, but i have rocked the engine when stationary and it doesnt make any noise.
Could it be the dog bone mounts, or the lower arm main bushes?

I cant visually see anythning wrong with them, hence why im on here asking!

The car is lowered on jom coilovers.

Any idead guys, as it isnt getting any better, and my local garage hasnt a clue, without pulling stuff apart, and that gets expensive without finding a problem neccesarily.

Knocking from the front end with acceleration, lift-off and braking yeah? What about turning into corners or driving over speed humps with only one wheel, either on the offending side or the opposite?

Is it a constant noise when accelerating / lifting off / braking? Or does it only happen the once with the weight / balance transfer? I have an idea of the offending component(s) that might be involved but need a little more info first:)
