1.4CL Polo going well at 100k but occasionally losing power

Hi,

This is one of those little niggles that you know you should do something about before it gets worse but where to start is the problem.

The car runs fine but occasionally you sense the power fade and then it returns to normal. It has done this twice now in a couple of days. The other thing that I've noticed is that the temperature indicator is hovering near the cool side so I suspect the thermostat might be stuck. Could the two problems be related perhaps?

Any advice on what to do here would be appreciated.

hi, you might want to check the colour of your exhaust smoke to see if it's a light grey at full revs for about 2-5 sec's, also check around the cylinder head/rocker cover for fresh oil. Mine is having the same problem and my head gasket is on the way out.
