Could lambda sensor stop my polo starting - please help!
This is my first post on here and I know nothing about cars to please bear with me... My little polo (T reg) always starts instantly but suddenly it has started mucking me around. It still starts from cold but if I turn it off and then try and start again then it will not start. It turns over ok but just won't start. The garage had a look today and said the diagnostic thingy says the lambda sensor is faulty and that it will be about £100 with labour to change it. I just wondered if this sounds right - would the lambda sensor cause this problem. I saw another forum where somebody said you could disconnect the lambda sensor to prove if this is the problem, but I would not know where to start - not a girly job I think. Thank you very much indeed for any advice.

Welcome
That shouldnt stop your car from starting. Its more likely to be a faulty temperature sender or something else. The lambda just controls the air to fuel ratio
