Gearbox issues when changing down

Hello all,

Just bought a polo (1.4 TDi from 2000), and the problem i have with it is when i change up the box i can get every gear but 4th, changing down i'm lucky to get anything, never 4th and for 3rd and 2nd i've got to touch the gear below to have a chance of getting it and even then i've got to watch what speed i'm doing. Funny thing is though when i'm stationary (and better still since i put 600ml of oil in the gearbox last night) i can go up and down the box no problem at all.

Any ideas what it is?? Would it be best to change all the oil in the box or just leave it as it is?

linkage set slightly out?

It's always good to change the fluid in the box.

As for fourth, look on youtube for a video of resetting the linkage, if that doesn't do it then you're having a rebuild or replace time.
