Having stalling issues... Ugh!

Post by Kalahati »

CAR: VW Polo 1997 1.4cl 8v Manual (71k)

My ugly brother left his Polo with me so I could fix his lock which he broke. I fixed this almost right away but he hadn't come for the car until 7 weeks later.

We tried starting the car but it was dead flat. Charged it up and now we have a stalling issue?

It idles perfectly and revs up perfectly only using partial throttle, but as you step on the throttle fully, the engine just cuts out and/or struggles. It'll go to 2k then drop, or stop at 2k for a second, then fall, then back up to 2k or any engine speed it decides then cuts out.

I've taken off the throttle body and made it almost brand new, yet problem still persists.

I've ran through a VCDS/VAG-COM scan and I am reported with:

00533 Idle Speed Regulator - Adaption Limit Surpassed
01087 Basic Adjustment not Performed

I tried running the '098' throttle body alignment but it wouldn't allow me for some reason, the back of the throttle body just made a weird whine for a short time then stopped. No alignment took place.

I'm completely stumped, and his car is outside my house haunting me.

Any advice guys?
