The exhaust mounts on the 6n2 aren't welded. They are all on replaceable brackets
Which are you wanting to replace and why out of interest?

Re: 6n2 gti new exhaust mounts
I haven't had time to look yet but apparently all the mounts have coroded and need fixing/welding.Previous owner was quoted £1300!!! (hence why I got the car for £300).I know the mounts attached on the exhaust have coroded badly so a new exhaust is needed so I'm looking to fit a stainless steel exhaust with hidden tailpipe.
So the actual mounts on the car are bolted on? Are they expensive?
Also Alex you give alot of good advice as I've noticed on here so where is the best place (apart from vw) to buy spares from coz every time I search online I never seen to find what I want!!

Re: 6n2 gti new exhaust mounts
That sounds like rubbish to me
But in any case the two rear mounts are held in by two bolts each
The center mount is part of a mounting plate held on by four nuts
The front is part of the subframe and Definately wouldn't corrode
To be fair, is be shocked if any of them had corroded that bad. They are cold rolled steel...and thick!!
If you do need to replace them, VW is your best option. Should be under £30 for the lot
