Water Leak coming from boot / tailgate. Advise please

Post by lolhoward »

I have noticed i'm getting some water on the parcel shelf, normally only one side to the edge of the shelf and on the plastic, but only when it rains so I know its not the washer hose. When I've got some time off work i.m gonna do some water tests and watch the inside  !

Just wondered if anyone else had simular problems or have any ideas.

The seal looks ok. Boot is colsing well. Could it be the window seal? Please help!

Cheers guys.

Could be the seal around the window, good idea would be to get some water in a jug and pour over the rear window to find out if there are any leaks. Can't say i've had the same problem but it's probably a leak somewhere.

yeah thats what i'm gonna do this weekend. Get somebody to sit inside too. Seal looks ok though. Hopefully it is the seal though as it will probably be the easiest thing to solve!

Would that then channel down to the parcel shelf?

might do as there's the strip to hold the roof lining right above the parcel shelf, and water find's it's own level, worth checking even to discount it.

As you can see the back of the car slopes, and the bases have been known to leak before.

Cheers for that. Poured water all over the boot and aerial. Looks like its the window seal, as the odd drip is dripping from it on the inside, but the majority of it is just going straight down to the bottom laying in the middle of the door. Taking it to a bodyshop (mate) to have a look. I'll keep ya posted, thanks for help.

Found the problem!

The water was coming in from the LED strip brake light. So my mate sealed it with the same stuff the windows are sealed with.

No more leaks!

Thanks for help/ideas guys
