plastic welding a mk5 front bumper

Post by kipper »

started looking at redoing the front bumper today and when removing the old filler was gonna start cutting away the inner plastic bit when i noticed the plastic bit on the top of the bumper is welded onto this part so removing it will result in the bumper going wrong....

n e one know how to go about this plastic welding or is it just a case or filler?

I have just started mine!!!! I removed the original trim and used that to melt down using a soldering iron and a blow torch. It is going real well. Will take pics and show you only done one side so far but almost ready for paint that side, some final sanding and ready for primer.

Its easy but time consuming.

I bought IPOSOL plastic bumper filler and its really strong and flexible. Will take pics tomorrow and show you should have that one side pretty finished by weekend then start the other side.

Front will be nightmare its a long old piece.
