Re: Tim's Fabia vRS
I haven't been receiving email notifications for replies on here for some reason!
Thanks for the kinds words guys.
As Ben said, 170 BHP odd is the sweet spot of power-economy-cost ratio.
Few updates on this. I'll inform soon!

Re: Tim's Fabia vRS
Here's a what I've been up to since I bought the car:
All bought and fitted:
D2s 6000k bulbs
Heat resistant LED sidelights
Chrome front and rear indicators
LEDs for interior lights
LED for glove box light
LED for boot light
LED fogs.
Also fitted a H7 HID kit for the full beams that I already owned.
rear indicator before
rear after
Interior lights before
Interior after
Front indicators, left before, right after
Before
After (6000k all round B) )
Left before, right after
Ordered all this form Skoda
All fitted. Reserving the new rear badge until I machine polish though!
Found out my rear doors leak also. I've sealed them up, and leaving the door cards off for a week whilst I monitor how successful the seals are. Debadged the rear.
Also, just had my my front grill, number plate surround, door handles and interior grill surrounds back from the sprayers. Few phone pics:
And some more of the dash, gonna get the head unit surrounds sprayed also.
Here's my EGR valve prior and post cleaning:
Clay bar after a couple of panels last week:
Had these delivered (AP coilovers).
X Car Link iPod adaptor.
Mid job:
Works a charm and lets me use my CD changer also! Happy days.
Bought this, foot rest plate:
Had a moment of insanity and managed to snap the foot rest plate plastic hook, so I've ordered a new one before this gets fitted.
New wipers (old ones screamed like a banshee)
Wiper black for rear:
Got a proper glass one. Fitted this today. The windscreen has a clear lip around the hole for the wiper blade, which is annoying as it means there's a clear gap between the blank and the black screen. So I masked up the inside and painted it.
The blank catches the eye a lot less now. It's dark so didn't get finished pics.
Got everything together for the coil over and bushes job now.
New top mounts:
Cupra Bushes and nuts and bolts:
Powerflex front wishbone bushes:
Gunna do all this in one week after christmas.
I've also found out that Autoleads do a lead that provides me with 2 pre-outs from my existing unit, so I can hook up two amps (speakers and sub) good times!
Leather seats have also been sold for cloth versions, and the car is booked in on the 10th Jan to get the clothes retrimmed in black leather with double green stitching and quilted centres!

Re: Tim's Fabia vRS
Decided to tackle the side strips yesterday. Pig of a job! It's an endurance test for sure, and expect no dexterity in your fingers for a while.
I tackled them with hairdryer and guitar string. Using a guitar string like a cheese wire:
This method meant there's no stress on potentially weak paint. Once you've cut the adhesive the strips just fall off.
15 minutes and a few wire cuts later:
Then I washed them, and applied AG Bug and Tar liberally:
Then broke out the toffee wheel. IMO this job is not possible without this tool.
Before and after
Getting to this stage is such a relief:
Whole job took around 2 and half hours (minus breaks for the rain to stop). each side taking around an hour with the wheel to get the adhesive off.
Looks soo much better now, and so much less fiddly when coming to wax etc..
Can't wait to get at this with my polisher now!

Re: Tim's Fabia vRS
Thanks mate.
Average of around 42mpg at the mo, mostly fairly spirited town driving and short motorway bursts.
I think it'll get a lot more with an oil change though. As I think it should achieving a lot more on the longer journeys. A lot of owners report up 60mpg but I've never got better than 50.
