175 is plenty enough from a vRS, its all about the torque & mid range power with TDi's

The 312mm Brake upgrade is a great choice if you can get a good second hand set of callipers & carriers although the standard 288's cope really well even if the car is mapped.

Going from 75bhp Petrol to 130bhp Diesel with 224 ft lbs of torque is a massive leap anyway so adding another 35bhp from a re-map will make you very happy indeed

Re: Tim's Fabia vRS. UPDATES PG6

Post by Tim_GTi »

Soon as I've got some 312mm brakes mate. But I'm not looking for those until I've sorted my sound system!

Whilst we're here I may swell update this!

Bought a golf 4 arm rest which is now fitted, also had the top retrimmed by Seat Surgeons:

Gearknob surround has been sprayed:

Handle surrounds sprayed

Also bought an OEM underseat storage box, and LCR splitter. Will fit the splitter this weekend, top's been sanded down in prep:

I've ditched my old Bluetooth kit as it oesn't work with amped speakers, so I've bought one from x-car-link that is compatible with my iPod adaptor.

I've been having problems with interference on my sound system, turned out to be my amplifier. That's been returned to CCD and I'm purchasing a Hertz HE4 instead. Ugly thing but decent amp!

My carriers were vibrating slightly on low long bass tones, so I re-addressed the sound proofing on the front of them, covering them completely and tightening up the torx screws securing the motors:

So next on the list is the fit the splitter and storage box, refit the new amp when it arrives, and get the final trim bits sprayed black. Then I'll get some new snaps of the interior for y'all, then I'll start on my custom fibre glass sub box!

Few more updates,

Finally found time to fit my splitter other day.

Gave the car a clean also, as I planned to go out and take some snaps
Image

It chucked it down straight after the clean though, didn't even dry the car. I took a quick one, but the weather was too bad to dry the paint or stick around to get more.

I've sound proofed my boot also in prep for my sub
[imghttp://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b134/T_dogg/b9977095.jpg[/img]

And just ordered a Hertz HE4 amp in replacement for the Ground Zero one, so fingers crossed this time next week I'll have a complete interior and working sounds system!

Today Despite having a fair bit of video editing to get on with, I thought I'd get a few bits and bobs done on the car as it's nice weather!

I started off by simply re-attaching the rear numberplate as it had come loose, but after cleaning behind it so thoroughly I thought it a shame to be to pull it back off when I do my detail in the coming months. So I got cracking with the detail today.

I'm going to be doing this in stages, as previous experience has shown that if done in all one go, you get lazy by the end of the day! and I want this to be a thorough job.

Method is

Wash
2 pass clay with songs clay
Machine polish using Poorboys SSR2 polish
Glaze using Poorboys Black Hole
Three coats of Collinite 476s wax
Image

I did the tailgate and rear bumper today. Stripped the plate and badge off, and replaced the badge with a brand new one.

Diesel's are dirty, this was just the rear:

Second pass was a lot better
Image

I use a Kestrel DA6 polisher (on a my second as the first one died) with various 6" and 4" Elite Car Care pads.

The paint is solid, and results are superb. There was a fair few surface scratches on the tailgate which are now gone.

I gave the exhaust tip a clean also, but in doing so found that due to lack of care over the years there's a lot of permanent damage to the inside top. You can't see it unless your head is on the floor, but it's enough to annoy me. So I'm gonna have the back box removed and replaced with a straight through pipe and nice new twin tip. This will also be a good way to lose the weight I've gained from the sound proofing!

Diesels are properly bad for rear end grime there a nightmare.... Good work with the lcr splitter indunno why they never came with it. You thought of painting it body color? They look epic coded, exhaust sounds good aswell mate. You going for a scrolled down twin tip or a strait twin? Good work bud.....!

Thanks mate.

Nah keeping it standard. Looks better IMO. Plus it's bound to catch on something at some point, and it would be ruined if it was painted!

I'm gunna go straight standard bore with twin tip!

Looks Stunning Tim :)
LCR Splitter makes it look so much more aggresive from the front, love it!

My mate had endless problems with his when it was lowered, he had to re-fit his several times so your deffo best keeping it standard rather than colour code it.

Thanks mate.

I don't spray my own stuff man, been there too many times! I have a good local that'll do most stuff for not a lot more than it would cost me to get all the paint etc..
