Hey guys, new member and first mods

Post by Ben Deller »

Hiya guys i'm newly joined and just learning about polos.
I recently bought one as my first car (Base model) at 18 years old and was looking to do some mods, preferably ones i don't need to let my insurance company know about.
if anyone has any easy/cheap first mods that they could recommend that would be great
Here is what i had in mind to do already if anyone has any info about any of them that would be sound:
VW mudflaps
BBS Montreal II alloys from a Golf
New heater dials and headlight switch
glossy dash/ center console
new headlights

Getting new alloys technically you would have to mention that to your insurance.
Depending on who your with might not cost that much extra.
But if they are just another set of VW wheels can probably get away with it.

Heater dials are a good easy mod, did them on my 9N3.

Have you though about painting your badges?
Easy thing to do and much better look much better in my opinion.

Im in the same boat, first car so doing stuff i dont really have to tell the insurance company about.

firstly you could de-badge the back by taking the polo lettering off
then do a rear wiper delete
black out vw badges (im gonna use plasti dip so i can take it off when i sell it)
then get some gti front honeycomb grilles and take off the gti badge and paint the red stripe black, looks far better

cheap and insurance company dont need to know ;)
