Thank you very much everyone for your comments and your interest.
I want to comment I installed the gas strut in that direction and not the other way to prevent air or dust with over time dry the seal of gas strut.

Highly recommended mod.
Remember, buying the gas strut in the VW dealer. OEM. Original equipment manufacturer.

Apply lithium grease to threaded areas and where necessary to prevent corrosion. Very common in environmental conditions of high humidity, also in places near the sea.

Really nice Ciclo! Will try to replicate that on my Polo , only those 2 parts from ebay + the OEM part?

Can't imagine what's next, you always surprise me!

That's just terrific, got to be mod of the year. Very nicely done.

I needed to replace a gas strut on my previous 9N Polo and in the searching found these people who do all sorts of things gas-strut related and look reasonable on price, if people are hunting for brackets they may be worth a look. Plus they do adjustable struts in various lengths and force.

You will not know until you install it.
I tested two aftermarket and they work well, but you will have turn U regarding how I have installed my gas strut.

The problem is that aftermarket gas struts do not travel gently at the end, bonnet vibrates.

Read here and look at the two videos:

(takes 2-3 weeks for delivery)
The bulbs arrived from China today, so only 12 days. My BGT should be arriving at the dealer today or tomorrow, so with a bit of luck I will have it for the weekend 8)
