Polo GTI 6R Ali-Express/China build air intake, induction!

Post by Maty J »

Guys,

Cant justify some of these prices for intakes....even this bad boy will be about $380 to fashion but figured I may be able to make a bit of a beast of an intake, something that'll not only sound fantastic but actually give a noticeable flow increase when it comes to tune time (paired with a 2.75 turbo back exhaust)

This is what I've sourced for a bit of a DIY, thoughts? (3 links for 3 seperate parts)

Going to sell the small blue pod ($10 anyone?) that comes with the china intake for the larger dual funnel.

It was either fashion something like this, or buy something engineered, but ridiculous at around $530 (like this) This is quite a beautiful intake, but would my build yield better results? much larger filter, not bottle necked in anyway by only pulling air from the small front grill, as a lot of these aftermarket kits do, they're both shielded quite well... if anything my filter will be further from the engine thus giving less chance of the carbon shield heating up?

Good idea or am I just being blinded by the $$ saving? It's not a huge amount but I'm always about savings with my builds :P
