Warning light- little car with zig zags under each wheel

Post by Garry-lfc48 »

Hi, I have a 2010 polo and the little car with zig zags has come on on the dash, it's been put on the computer and found a fault, it said it's an intermittent censor, any body know what to do, any help would be appreciated, thanks

Tyre pressure monitor have you checked the pressures & not reset the button in the glovebox(hold it till you hear a beep)

This one?

It's the ESP system. ESP keeps the car in line in erratic driving (swerving to avoid something, or going to quickly into a corner, hitting a patch of ice, whatever) so it's quite an important thing to keep operating correctly.

The tyre pressure light is like this:

Possibly an ABS sensor on its way out?
It was a common fault on some older Golfs

The ESP system uses the ABS sensors, along with g-force sensors (to detect the car sliping sideways) and a steering wheel angle sensor (to tell what you want the car to do). Could be any of them I guess, but I'd presume that if it was an ABS speed sensor for a wheel then the ABS would also stop functioning, and throw up the ABS light?

Is it not time to do some rewinding here, the OP said that car "has been on a computer and there is a fault associated with a sensor" - that sensor will have been defined so getting that info should help a lot here instead of asking for guesses?
