RCD310 to RCD510

Post by CGreen98 »

Hi Everyone, I am thinking about upgrading my standard RCD310 to a RCD510 unit! My question is will the Multifunction steering wheel buttons still work and has anybody done this before and is it a relatively easy swap over job? Haven't really got time to be re-wiring.

Thanks Cam.

Yes but it might need some VCDS coding

It should be a straight swap however

Hmm thanks guys, I really want one but don't want to waste £250 on a stereo I can't use...[emoji31] I think I might remove the RCD310 and check the connections.

So here's what I've gathered:

The normal 310 I have looks like this:Image

And then the bit that confuses me, there's 2 different RCD510's! One the same as mine and one with a strange yellow port?

From what I've read there's a Bosch one made in Portugal for the earlier cars and then a Delphi (or something like that) one that was made in China for the later cars. Seeming as mine is an earlyish 2011 maybe the Bosch would work better?

Thanks guys I ordered one without the yellow plug anyways. Hopefully won't have any issues and will update once it's in!
