Differential Pressure Sensor

Post by Lem11 »

For quite some time I have been getting the fault code: P2455 Differential Pressure Sensor Current/Voltage High - tested with a Sealey VS8802 code reader. Error comes up with my OBDEleven as well. The Glow Plug /Engine Management lamp flashes, sometimes accompanied with the Emission Control / Engine Management lamp. I can reset both, however, the former comes back on, sometimes immediately and sometimes after a day or two. Any ideas what is wrong? Whereabouts is the troublesome sensor? It is an easy diy fix or should I have it looked at by VW or another garage?

it's a DIY fix. the G450 diff. pressure sensor is on a bracket close to your fuel filter, behind the right hand side headlight

Thanks for that iichel. I've had a quick look but couldn't locate it, I'll have another look tomorrow.

I've had a good look and cannot see a bracket with a sensor on it!

It may be down on bulkhead behind gearbox

Both lights came on today. I reset the Engine Management one and took the car for a run. Glow plug light flashed throughout. Car driven on a dual carriageway for about 20 minutes keeping the revs around 2500 rpm when I could for as long as I could. At one point whilst driving around a roundabout I noticed a plume of black smoke from the back of the car. RPM around 1000 when stationary, normally around 750, and got that distinctive 'burning smell'. Fuel consumption has gone through the floor as well.
Engine turned off and back on again and the lamp now not flashing.

If it's not there it will be on bulkhead just by gearbox

Eureka! Well I think I have found it (thanks Jessesam). Unfortunately it is not in a place I can access easily. Car booked in tomorrow for the sensor replacing.

How much was it to change if you don't mind me asking?
