I'm back!!! With a GT this time

Post by pip_polo »

Hello everyone,
Some of you older long serving members might recognise me, or not haha.
I sold my last 9n (1.4tdi) because i wanted more power and tuneable so i bought a Fabia vRS (i modified it to ~230bhp ~380lb/ft) then sold that and bought a mk5 Golf R32. Ive since had a polo mk3 'loon and a mk4 Golf estate.
But im back with a Polo, completly standard GT. the plans are to run a 2260 turbo and everything else i had on the Fabia, so im going to aim for between 240-260bhp.
:D

A few things im on the look out for if anyone sees any of them going cheap:
Polo mk7 (9n3) front end.
312/256mm brakes.
Anti roll bars/strut braces.
Votex body kit.
Gti side skirts.
PD160 air intake.
Also any other stuff i'll probs need.

Cheers

It was costing me about £550 a month on fuel, £445 a year tax, £1600 a year insurance and it was slowwwwww.
Other than that it was the best car i'll probably ever own. I cant justify that much money, not with a house and bills etc now :-(

I wouldnt want another R32 unless it was turbo as they are dissapointingly slow. The DSG and launch control is good though.

I always had a feeling an R32 wouldnt be that impressive after chasing one in my old Passat and it didnt really get anywhere

Be interested to see what you do with this as its similar to our lass other than 3 door. Always did like your VRs

No you don't...

Also, may I suggest a GTB2056VK / VL if you're aiming for that power figure? Less lag, but still good enough for around 260bhp.

You do ash if your going on a reliable set of rollers. Spoke to bloke from darkside developments about it and he said they haven't had any above 250 that have the standard head that arnt running dangoursly hot.

Ill speak to darkside when i come to it, my mates running around 300bhp in his ibiza. So i know where to go.
But for the time being ill probably just get the MD376 hybrid 150 turbo again and run around 220/230bhp.
Im unsure what FMIC to go for as the front doesnt have a decent opening, so this is why i was thinking GTI front end and i can open it up without looking out if place.
What im thinking is a large single pass cooler in the bottom grill with a passat intake manifold. This way it will flow alot better and wont be piping issues of trying to get back the same way.

I dont thInk that does what i want.
Using the passat manifold allows the piping to return back up the right hand side of the engine rather than double back.
Only problem i see is the air i take pipe looks s**t, but my mate tom has heat tape on his and its fine.

I was going to say the same but if the R32 costs that much to run then flip me, better to roll in a quicker diesel :D

Cars looking nice :)
