Engine swap!

Post by Calrob98 »

Hi, I'm looking into swapping my 1.2 engine for a 1.4, can someone give me a full list of what I will need please? Thanks

I know that you have not asked for this answer, but, every time this question comes up, the answer is always the same - ie "forget it, sell it and buy a 1.4" . If you succeed to completing this, you will have produced a very undesirable mongrel which will cost quite a bit to insure for what it is, as well as lots of other issues.

I tend to echo rum on this one. For the amount of work required it really isn't worth it

Remapping may possibly give you the same gains as swapping the engine, don't quote me on that though

On a 1.2 (given its NA and 3 cylinders), the gain will be next to nil

Not looking for power gains or anything it's just I have the typical 1.2 12v engine problems and I can't seem to get rid of them, whatever I do. the car was gifted to me so I don't want to get rid of the car as this would be like throwing it back in their face, just wanted to see how hard it would be to swap the engine

In other words "oh bother!" or words to that effect, now you have a challenge on your hands, what a nightmare, good luck!

It loves just jumping into limp mode! Then runs like a bag of hammers, replaced all coils and plugs, checked wires, replaced the cam shaft position sensor and still does the same thing
