Passenger footwell cold heaters

Post by Benimus_prime »

Hi everyone,

My girlfriend's polo, 2004 1.4 FSI sport, has decided that it wants to always blow cold air into the footwell, regardless of what the dial says or whether it's in recirculating mode.

I've had a look through googles and a common fault seems to be the V68 motor, but I've noticed that it only happens on the passenger side and not the drivers side. Is there a separate motor or does one control both sides?

I've also tried recirculating mode and by sticking my head under the dash I've seen that the flap is operating as it should do, opening and closing on request.

Any ideas from you owners would be much appreciated.

Cheers in advance,

Ben.

Update**

Had a look again in the footwell to check the pollen filter was in properly and discovered its missing it's plastic cover, should be a cover with 2 locking tabs on it... and it's missing entirely!! So that's where the cold air is coming from!

If anyone knows where I can get one it would be much appreciated as a quick flick through eBay has drawn a blank!

Thanks again,

Ben.

You can get it from the dealer inexpensively. I'll find the part number tomorrow for you

Thanks for your response, email notification only just came through. I found the part number 6Q0 819 422 B by looking through google, is that the right part number?

Just a thought, as the clips can drop off that cover, make sure that you are getting two clips complete with that cover - I've not checked the parts list yet.

Edit:- I'm wrong, looks like you can only buy the cover complete with two clips!

Another Edit:- are you sure that it has been changed to a "B" all the lists I've checked still say it is an "A" ? A VW/SEAT/Skoda dealer's parts department will keep you right.

Yet Another Edit:- ignore me, "B" seems to have superceded "A" !

Woah loads of edits and I was oblivious haha, I went to VW main dealer and they said it was an 'A' part and it's in order so I'll confirm it's all good when I pick it up hopefully tomorrow.
