Clutch biting point

I have a polo 2005 1.1 the biting point is when the pedal is on the floor any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

It's not adjustable as it's a hydraulic clutch

Hi Scott, Alex,

I've just bought a 9N 53 plate 1.4 BBY and the body work and interior are in great nick (after a full valet) and I am looking at addressing any issues early before they become biggies.

If I understand the Haynes manual, the 9N uses hydraulics to work the clutch. So if I have about an inch of clutch bite on the pedal's travel and some over-revving, specially 1st and 2nd when cold starting, I should look at replacing the clutch?

If so, is there a huge difference in clutches? Looking at Euro parts, there is some brands going for £80 and then top of the range Luk for £220+.

Correct, the clutch bite isnt adjustable so yes, its probably time to start looking at a replacement clutch

Theres alot of difference in the quality of a clutch. Sachs, valeo, LUK, or genuine really would be my choices. GSF are doing 25% off most weekends now (and theyve just lowered all their prices massively) which makes them alot cheaper than euro.
