HI Great forum new to this.
Just got polo 1.2 se 52 reg great car revs so well.
just got 1 question i get water in side the boot left hand side looks like its coming in from the left rear light is this common ?
the polo has not got a sunroof
it has got the squeek from the front that is common

I think that it has been reported that these cars can leak at the light clusters, I think that the clusters need to be removed, sealing added and then refitted. To remove the clusters you can gain access to the securing plastic nuts through the trim - there is a perforated section at each side. The plastic nuts are retained by lanyards so that they do not fall out of reach - the clusters then pull out and the cables can be unclipped. BTW I have not had this problem. Other problem, front noise, how old is the car and what mileage?
mine was BOTH problems.... i had the gasket rubbers playing up, so water was coming in from around the light clusters.... AND i had a rip in the rear wash wipe fluid tube (probably froze and burst in cold weather due to lack of proper anti-freeze screenwash). I fixed the tube by using plumbing tape from wickes believe it or not, did a sterling job!
and as for the gaskets, for now i have done a very delicate insulating tape job, but im looking forward to madmatt's part number on monday!!

left side 6Q0998145 approx £5.28
right side 6Q0998146 approx £5.28
oh and a further read of 1.2 polo original post he states he has a squeek from the from which is usaly without a doubt coming from the front wishbone rear bush which is a pressed in bush in to a thing called a consel the cheapest and eastest way to repair this is buy the full consel from deelers but dont forget you will need to buy all the bolts too as they are all stretch bolts

I'd try to find a proper indep VAG specialist and get them to fit Seat Ibiza Cupra solid rubber bushes - lots of people including me have done this (have a look on the Fabia forum on www.briskoda.net ) . I have been told that the greenish covering on the bolts is to protect against them against the problem caused by different materials ie aluminium with steel - but I do agree that all these greenish bolts should be changed - although my VW dealer seems not to have changed any when then changed my ARB on the Polo 9N. Another reason to get someone with a proper four wheel alignment to do this work is that the wheels will need to be re-aligned (not just tracking) after this work has been done.madmatt wrote:ok chaps

Yes mate your correct with the greenish coat on the bolts its just to stop corrosion. The main dealer not replacing the bolts lol thats a supprise. i worked at a main dealers for 4 yrs before moving to the garage i am at at the mo and no bolts got orded for the job let alone fitting them. And belive it or not they were just air gunned up which is just wrong.
i now work at a very well known vw / audi specilist in nottinghamshire and we make sure all bolts get replaced, torqued and stretch then proof painted on all jobs we do.
and for the matter of the full wheel alignment yeah i see your point but at the end of the day there no adjustment to camber on the 9n polo so just tracking would be sufficant.

The wheel alignment bit, with the Fabia+Polo 9N+Ibiza 6L+A2?, when the cross member is dropped its initial position is lost - and it needs to be dropped ideally to remove the consoles to change the bearing - unless you use that new (non VAG) tool made for changing them insitu. The cross member fixing holes are over sized to allow the camber to be equalised by moving the cross member from side to side and also to correct any positional errors in the chassis and rear suspension assembly - to avoid crabing. The actual camber is set up in the same way but at the point where the TCA swivel assembly bolts on to the TCA - not an issue when just replacing the console bushes, but after the mileage the car has already run maybe a bit of accidental heavy kerbing will have changed things a bit.
